Guitar Toggle Switch (LED & Non-LED)

"Kill Your Signal, Not Your Tone."
Pro-Level Stutter and Mute Effects With a Single Press

  • A latching killswitch gives you a different kind of control than a momentary button. Instead of only muting while you’re pressing it, this toggle-style switch lets you flip your guitar fully silent and keep it there until you switch back.

It's perfect for muting between songs, silent tuning, changing guitars, or stepping away from your rig without riding the volume knob or touching your amp.

Click the switch to mute and your signal stays off. Click it again and your full sound returns, ready for the next riff or set. You still can use it rhythmically for on/off effects if you want, but its real strength is acting as a dedicated master mute that feels solid and predictable under the fingers.

The silver-finished metal alloy housing gives it a clean, classic look that pairs well with chrome or nickel hardware. The LED model adds a crisp white halo that shows at a glance when the mute is engaged, which is especially handy on dark stages or crowded pedalboards.

Prefer something more understated? Choose the non-LED version or simply leave the LED wires disconnected and use it as a straightforward toggle.

Each switch ships pre-wired with leads, so you or your tech can focus on placement and clean solder joints instead of decoding tiny terminals. It’s built to handle real-world use in rehearsals, live sets, and studio sessions, with the same install support, FAQs, and warranty coverage as our standard killswitch lineup.

  • A toggle killswitch is a latching mute, not a momentary one. That means the switch has two stable positions: in one position your guitar passes signal normally; in the other, your output is fully muted until you flip it back.

Electrically, this switch works the same basic way as our momentary models. In the mute position, it shorts your guitar’s output signal to ground at the jack, giving the signal a safe path away from the amp. In the live position, that short is removed and your normal signal path is restored.

This design makes the toggle ideal as a master mute for:

    • Quiet tuning between songs

    • Swapping guitars without noise

    • Silencing the rig while you adjust pedals or amp settings

    • Keeping things quiet on stage when you are not playing

You can still use it for simple on/off effects if you like, but its main strength is hands-on control over silence that does not require holding a button down.

Because it is a hard mute at the output, you may hear a light click or pop at high volume on very clean tones. That is normal behavior for this kind of switch, and in most real-world rigs it is minimized by gain, compression, or the natural noise floor of the signal chain.

  • This toggle killswitch is designed to work with both passive and active instruments, including guitars with onboard preamps or modern systems like EMG and Fishman Fluence. In all cases, the mute is wired at the output jack, so your pickups and core voicing remain untouched.

    Pickups and electronics

    • Works with passive humbuckers and single-coils.

    • Works with active systems (EMG, Fluence, etc.) when you wire the switch after the preamp at the output stage.

    LED and power

    • The LED version uses a white indicator LED so you can see at a glance when the mute is engaged.

    • If your guitar already has a 9 V battery for actives, you can usually power the LED from that same source using the included resistor and correct wiring.

    • On fully passive guitars, you can add a dedicated 9 V or a compact coin-cell pack to run the LED.

For higher-voltage setups like 18 V or 24 V, you don’t have to guess resistor values.
Just leave a note in the order comments with your planned voltage, and I’ll include the appropriate higher-value resistor in your package. If you want the full breakdown of values and options, you can always dive into the LED Voltage Guide for more detail.

    Mono vs stereo jack behavior

    • With a mono jack, the LED will remain on whenever it has power, unless you put it on its own dedicated LED on/off switch. Our killswitch installation kits include this type of mini switch if you want manual LED control.

    • With a stereo jack and the correct wiring, you can have the LED turn on automatically when a cable is inserted, similar to how most active pickup systems are switched on.

If you prefer a completely dark look, you can either order the non-LED version or simply cap the LED wires and leave them disconnected on the LED model. The mechanical mute function remains the same. For general wiring layouts and jack-first diagrams, check the How To Install page, and if you are running EMG or Fishman Fluence, you can also cross-check the dedicated EMG/Fluence Install guide for active-specific examples.

    • Latching master mute control
Toggle-style switch with two stable positions so you can leave the guitar fully live or fully muted until you decide to change it. Perfect for quiet tuning, guitar changes, and keeping your rig under control between songs.

    • Clean, versatile appearance
Silver-finished metal alloy housing that pairs naturally with chrome and nickel hardware and fits everything from modern superstrats to more traditional builds.

    • White LED status indicator (optional)
The LED version adds a crisp white indicator so you can see at a glance when the mute is engaged, which is especially useful on dark stages or in complex setups. The non-LED version keeps things visually minimal for players who prefer a simpler look.

    • Pre-wired for easier installs
Ships pre-wired with leads so you or your tech can focus on routing and clean solder joints instead of decoding bare terminals. The layout is straightforward, with dedicated connections for the mute circuit and the optional LED.

    • Built for real-world use
Designed to handle repeated use in rehearsals, gigs, and studio sessions, with a solid mechanical feel that gives you confidence every time you flip it.

    • Flexible LED power options
Works with standard 9 V LED setups using the correct resistor value, and can be integrated with higher-voltage systems by following the LED Voltage Guide. If you decide not to run the LED, simply leave the LED wiring disconnected and use the switch purely as a tactile toggle mute.

    • What is included

      • 1 latching toggle killswitch (LED or non-LED variant)

      • 1 rubber gasket to protect your guitar’s finish under the switch

      • 1 resistor for standard 9 V LED setups (LED version)

      • 3 complimentary Iron Age picks

      • Access to install guides, FAQs, and support if you need help

    • If you need a stereo jack or dedicated power added to your guitar, our killswitch installation kits include the jack, i/o switch, and power options to complete the setup.
  • Every Iron Age switch is backed by a 365-day functional warranty. If this switch fails under normal use within the first year, I replace it. That’s the baseline: we stand behind what we ship, and if the part is at fault, you get a fresh one.

Most issues that come up are install-related, so I’ll usually start with a quick wiring check or ask for a cavity/jack photo to troubleshoot the circuit with you. If it turns out to be a defective switch rather than the install, I send a replacement instead of giving you the runaround.

For change-of-mind situations, standard 30-day returns and exchanges apply to eligible, non-custom items as long as they’re still in mint condition. If you ever have a question about whether something is covered, reach out with your order number and what you’re seeing, and I’ll look at the facts and handle it on the merits.
