"Kill Your Signal, Not Your Tone."
Pro-Level Stutter and Mute Effects With a Single Press

  • A killswitch takes everything you already like about your tone and gives you a new way to attack it. With an Iron Age guitar killswitch, you get a fast, momentary mute right where your picking hand naturally falls, so you can carve out sharp rhythmic cuts, machine-gun stutters, and dramatic silences between chords or phrases.

Tap the button and your signal drops out. Let go and your sound snaps back in, ready for the next riff. The result feels immediate and physical, almost like adding a new rhythm instrument to your guitar without changing your pickups or pedals.

The low-profile, chrome-finished metal alloy housing sits comfortably under your fingers, and the LED ring creates a clean halo of light that makes the switch easy to find on dark stages or in a packed pedal chain of visuals. This finish pairs especially well with chrome or nickel hardware on modern superstrats, single-cuts, and boutique builds.

If you prefer a more subtle look, you can simply leave the LED unwired and use it purely as a tactile mute.

Each unit ships pre-wired with leads so you or your tech spend less time deciphering connections and more time playing. It is supported by clear install guides, FAQs, and real human support if you get stuck, and it is built to handle the kind of heavy use that comes with live sets, rehearsals, and studio abuse.

  • A killswitch does one simple job: when you press the button, your guitar signal mutes; when you release it, your sound comes straight back. Electrically, this switch is a momentary mute that briefly sends your output signal to ground at the jack.

You are not cutting power to your pickups or stressing the electronics, you are just giving the signal a safe path away from the amp for as long as the button is held.

In simple electrical terms, it works by momentarily shorting your guitar’s signal to ground at the output stage (see Killswitch Basics for a deeper overview).

Inside this model there are effectively two separate circuits:

    • A killswitch pair of wires that handle the mute function.

    • An LED pair of wires that handle the light ring.

These do not interact with each other, so the switch will still work as a mute even if you choose not to power the LED.

For best results, this killswitch is intended for high gain, distortion, or heavily processed rigs, where the mute effect feels tight and any small mechanical noise is naturally minimized in the mix.

On very clean tones, especially at high volume, you may hear a bit of popping when the signal is cut on and off. That behavior is normal for any hard mute at the output and is not a defect, just the nature of the effect.

  • This LED Killswitch is designed to work with both passive and active setups, including guitars with onboard preamps or modern systems like EMG and Fishman Fluence.

In all of these cases, the kill function is wired at the output jack, so you are treating it as a final mute rather than something that interferes with pickup wiring.

A few quick rules of thumb:

    • Pickups:

      • Works with passive humbuckers and single coils.

      • Works with active systems as long as you wire the mute after the preamp, at the jack.

    • LED power:

      • If your guitar already has a 9 V battery (active pickups, preamp, etc.), you can usually power the LED from that source using the included resistor and correct wiring.

      • If your guitar is fully passive, you can add a dedicated 9 V or a compact coin cell pack to run the LED.

      • For higher-voltage setups like 18 V or 24 V, just leave a note in the order comments with your planned voltage and I will include the appropriate higher-value resistor; if you want the full breakdown of values, you can also check the LED Voltage Guide.

    • Mono vs stereo jack behavior:

      • With a mono jack, the LED will stay on whenever it has power, unless you add a separate on or off switch for the LED.

      • With a stereo jack and proper wiring, you can have the LED turn on automatically when a cable is inserted, the same way active pickups are usually switched.

If you prefer not to run a light at all, you can simply cap the two LED wires and leave them disconnected. The killswitch pair still handles the mute function at 100 percent.

For general wiring layout and jack-first diagrams, see the How To Install page, and if you are running EMG or Fishman Fluence, you can also reference the dedicated EMG/Fluence Install guide for active-specific examples.

    • Clean, modern metal look
Low profile, chrome-finished alloy housing that ties in with chrome and nickel hardware, and suits everything from polished superstrats to custom shop single-cuts.

    • Bright, focused LED ring
A clean halo of light around the button makes it easy to locate the switch in a dark room or under stage lighting. Multiple LED color options let you match or contrast your guitar’s hardware and aesthetic.

    • Tactile, confident action
The button has a firm, satisfying click that helps you feel each mute and release. That feedback is important when you are timing fast stutters or integrating the switch into tight rhythmic parts.

    • Pre-wired for faster installs
Each unit ships with pre soldered leads so you or your tech can focus on clean routing and solid joints instead of decoding bare terminals. The layout is simple, with two wires for the mute function and two for the LED.

    • Built for real use
The aircraft grade aluminum body and quality switch hardware are chosen with repeated stage presses, rehearsals, and travel in mind. This is meant to live on a working instrument.

    • Flexible LED options
Use the included 150 ohm resistor for standard 9 V LED setups, or follow the LED Voltage Guide if you plan to run 18 V or 24 V. If you do not want a light at all, leave the LED wires disconnected and enjoy a stealthy, non lit kill function.

    • What is included

      • x1 premium LED killswitch, pre wired

      • x1 rubber gasket to protect your guitar’s finish under the switch

      • x2 150 ohm resistors for the LED (1 is extra)

      • Complimentary Iron Age delrin picks

      • Access to install guides, FAQs, and support if you need help

    • If you need a stereo jack or dedicated power added to your guitar, our killswitch installation kits include the jack, i/o switch, and power options to complete the setup.
  • Every Iron Age killswitch is backed by a 365-day functional warranty. If this switch fails under normal use within the first year, I replace it. That’s the baseline: we stand behind what we ship, and if the part is at fault, you get a fresh one.

Most issues that come up are install-related, so I’ll usually start with a quick wiring check or ask for a cavity/jack photo to troubleshoot the circuit with you. If it turns out to be a defective switch rather than the install, I send a replacement instead of giving you the runaround.

For change-of-mind situations, standard 30-day returns and exchanges apply to eligible, non-custom items as long as they’re still in mint condition. If you ever have a question about whether something is covered, reach out with your order number and what you’re seeing, and I’ll look at the facts and handle it on the merits.
