I’m Alex Rodea — Founder & Maker at Iron Age Guitar Accessories, a one-man shop building boutique guitar picks, knobs, and kill-switches since 2015.
Before Iron Age, I served from 2008–2013 as a USMC avionics technician (AV-8B Harrier II), MOS 6332. That work trained me in disciplined troubleshooting and systems management: isolate faults, verify fixes, document clearly, and keep inventories and processes tight. I bring that same systems-first mindset to materials, machining, finishing, and product design.
This blog is a mix of practical bench work, player-first guidance, and the deeper “why” behind design and musicianship. If you’re browsing by theme, these are the core lanes:
I publish a running changelog to document customer-facing changes (materials, fitment notes, build standards, and updates that affect products or service). It’s my way of keeping improvements trackable and accountable over time:

I’m the owner and primary author responsible for the content on this site today. A number of older posts were drafted during earlier shop phases when Iron Age had additional team members, but the blog is now maintained and updated under my authorship and accountability.
