In the old sky-charts, the Empyrean was the highest fire—the clear crown of light above all other heavens. This annual piece is cut as a small relic of that realm: a pick for the player who keeps one instrument close, one lamp burning, and turns certain late-night sessions into a private rite at the fretboard.
Each Empyrean begins as Koatic Artworks resin poured into a stormed firmament of green, violet, white, and fine specks of gold. No two slabs ever settle the same; every pick carries its own pattern. Into that field, a crown impression is carved into the heavens around the Sword & Laurel, then filled with a pale, tapering tip that drives the attack down toward the strings. The mark sits inside that reversed crown like a sigil on a signet—dark, centered, and hard to forget once you’ve seen it.
In the hand, Empyrean feels solid, weighty, and strangely at home. The 5 mm body has presence without drag, tapering toward the point so the tip still moves quickly and precisely. Both faces are finished to a full satin sheen; there’s no glassy slip, just a dry, confident hold that seems to find the same grip each time you reach for it. Slim, ambidextrous bevels give the note a bright edge and a clean release, more command than struggle.
Under daylight, the face reads as a shifting field of color and fire. Under UV blacklight, the material flares into vivid life, revealing a hidden radiance that suits the name while the tip and crown line stay calm and composed. It’s the sort of piece that lives on a desk, by a stand, or near the amp—kept close as a personal token, brought out for late-night sessions, careful takes, and the moments you want marked.
Empyrean MMXXVI is the 2026 crown release, cut once in a run of just 48. Each one bears its own pattern, its own cast of color and fire, and once they’re gone, this particular firmament and crown will not return.
